The Classics Challenge

Whilst travelling around the internet in search of like-minded bloggers, I came across a Classics Challenge and I was intrigued.  I signed up and started scanning our shelves to figure out just what would be read for the challenge.  I have settled on the entree option with the bonus.  I have until October to get it finished and I am looking forward to checking off some of the books on my list.  Currently I am thinking of authors with only a couple of titles in mind.  Here is the rundown:
1. Melville
2. Woolf - Mrs. Dalloway
3. Kingsolver - The Poisonwood Bible
4. Forester
5. Collins - The Moonstone
Bonus: Life of Pi

I will not be reading in this order, and I do reserve the right to change my mind at any time.  Any suggestions of other classics I must read?

  1. Kristiana told me you are going to read Mrs. Dalloway with us! Hooray! I also suggest Anna Karenina and The Picture of Dorian Gray.

  2. Wilde is one of the books we're missing from our set. =( We're down to that and Maugham. Got some Louis Stevenson right now.. it'll be a Louis Stevenson Power Bifecta(not a real word).

  3. Loved The Poisonwood Bible and anything by Wilkie Collins. (No Name is another great read by him.) My favorite genre is 19th century Brit Lit. Check out North & South by Elizabeth Gaskell, Persuasion by Jane Austen, and Great Expectations by Dickens. You're making me want to go to the library for a fresh infusion of books!

  4. I loved The Painted Veil. I saw the movie first, and then read the book. Both are great.
